Subject: updates and notes

Good morning, Yvonne,

I am off soon for the next (and I hope final) hip procedure.

Soon to come out:

- a note from me to the board explaining the elimination of the curriculum specialists roles as we know them, the creation of a new role to support curriculum implementation and ongoing curriculum development; the note will also include an explanation of a change in the coaching model to support the general pedagogy needed and for curriculum implementation.? This note is ready for either the Friday memo or the Monday board package... we shall see.?? John Brown and GwenCarol Holmes did a very good job of creating this new model.

- an outline of the agenda for Thursday's administrative retreat, with the focus on creating inclusive environments (not just about special education)... one or two board members are welcome but I would ask if you come, you spend the day.

- a note from Steve Wilkins detailing our work with Jefferson-Houston; we had a very positive and productive meeting with staff there on Tuesday; still to meet with parents and community; Kim Graves will assume her new responsibilities on July 1

- there is a need to review the policy which describes the board's advisory committees processes, specifically looking at the timing of the election of chairs (policy says the fall; practice is now)

- we? may have an answer to the field at Hammond (not the lights)... Mark Krause and Margaret Byess are working on this... should know by Friday.

-? MOE policy continues to work well; we have closed several sections across the school division; we are closely monitoring K enrollments and working with each school to assure that their communities get the word about registration; Grades 1-5 enrollments are on target (within 10 students); next MOE meeting is this coming Tuesday... we will send a chart to the board after this meeting.? Some stories are going around about the cost of apartments and utilities impacting enrollments around Ramsay and in Arlandria.

Today is the last day for teachers.
